| The Vermilion River in Sudbury District and Greater Sudbury is a tributary of the Spanish River, which empties into Lake Huron. This river has its source in the Sudbury District near Halfway Lake. It flows southward into the city of Greater Sudbury to the neighbourhood of Capreol, where it turns southwesterly toward Dowling. It picks up the Onaping River as a tributary north of Larchwood, and then continues southwesterly to Vermilion Lake, from whence it flows southerly to Whitefish.
